Tucker
Smith (vocals, banjo, guitar, dobro & bandleader)
Tucker grew up in six national parks across the America
before moving to Jackson Hole as a teenager. He graduated
with honors from Montana State University in Economics
and Mathematics and began a career as a financial analyst,
and later, a realtor.
Tucker
revived his playing and performing career at the famous
Jackson Hole Hootenanny, where he has played over 100
times. In 1996, he finally came to his senses and decided
to play music full-time for a living. Since then, he
has been a local favorite as a solo act and the leader
of Steam Powered Airplane, as well as playing with a
wide variety of musicians from the greater Yellowstone
region as Tucker Smith & Friends.
Tucker
was last year's Wyoming State Champion of guitar, banjo,
fiddle, and mandolin. He earned these honors at the
Oyster Ridge Music Festival. In addition, he placed
3rd in this year's national RockyGrass banjo competition
(though he was initially announced as the winner of
that comp).
Not only
does he play fast, he also enjoys moving fast
running and cross-country ski racing are among his favorite
activities.
